Does the Bible Condemn Gambling? — Watchtower ONLINE LIBRARY

what does scripture say about gambling

what does scripture say about gambling - win

Islam appears as if it ways made up by Primitive, medieval Arabs who didn't know anything about the world outside from their local area nor had interactions with a divine being.

ISLAM- The belief that an All-Knowing, All-Powerful God decided to reveal his doctrine for mankind, to a 7th century illiterate Arab slave trader(slave and sex slave owner who had regular sex with his 9 year old wife) ,in a cave where no one else was there to verify, through Angel Gabriel over 23 years rather than just beaming it into his brain.

Islam is an extremely Arab-centric religion, it seems as if it was completely made up by an Arabic person/people. The more a religion is tied to the culture of whatever society created it, the less likely it is to be legitimate. An omnipresent All-Knowing God wouldn’t care where on earth the primates he gave sentience to come from. This is what I will be discussing.
THE KAABAThe holy site for pilgrimage is very conveniently located in their backyard (Saudi Arabia.) This would be like a religion of Japanese origin claiming the holy site for pilgrimage is in Tokyo. Muslims have to pray towards the Kaaba which is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Pre-Islamic Arabia was extremely underdeveloped and primitive. Literature wasn’t important and credible texts were rare so sometimes historians have to go with the biased Islamic perspective. According to the Abrahamic religions(Islam included), Abraham lived at around 2100-2200BC which is thousands of years before Islam was born in the 7th century. Islamic sources claim Abraham built the Kaaba for Islamic practises and it was his most important accomplishment. However the Bible never mentions the Kaaba and some Muslims claim Allah is the same God of the bible. Strangely the Kaaba was never mentioned in Judaism and Christianity. Only Islamic sources claim Christians and Jews also respected the Kaaba religiously. It was difficult to unify the many sects of Judaism and Christians on many things but not one sect of either religion mentioned the Kaaba. This suggests this idea was entirely fabricated. Islamic sources claim that the Kaaba in Mecca was a well known, important trade centre. Most Historians agree this is false as there was no mention of the Kaaba by the powerful Roman Empire, and the neighbouring Persian Empire and neighbouring Northern African Rulers until the birth of Islam . All historical evidence indicates the Quran was built by Arab Pagans a few centuries before Muhammad, not Abraham, yet again another false Islamic claim made by early Muslim Arabs or Muhammad. The Zamzam Well is a well located in Mecca, Saudi East of the Kaaba the holiest place in Islam. According to Islam, it is a miraculously generated source of water from God, which sprang spontaneously thousands of years ago when Ibrahim (Abraham's) son Ismael (Ishmael) was left with his mother Hajar (Hagar) in the desert, thirsty and crying. Ibrahim made a request to Allah- 14:37: "{O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by Your Sacred House (the Ka'bah at Makkah) in order, O our Lord, that they may perform Salah (prayer). So fill some hearts among men with love towards them, and (O Allah) provide them with fruits so that they may give thanks.}" Muslims believe Zamzam was the first among many fruits provided to Ibrahim by Allah. provided to Ismail and Hajar were in the desert. Very conveniently the Holy Water in Islam is located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The water is so holy it is taught to heal diseases and sickness; there is no scientific evidence to support this. This appears to be a knock-off version of a biblical story (one of the many in Islam) where Abraham’s concubine and his son Ishmael were left in the desert of Paran in Palestine. The Hadith Sahih Muslim 31:6046 says that ZamZam water is special, can quench hunger, feed you and make you gain weight;there is of course no scientific evidence to support these claims. Islam makes it appear as if it is a miracle that there is water well in the desert which is expected coming from primitive Arab desert dwellers with little scientific knowledge. Water is underground in most deserts because as rainwater falls, it is absorbed underground and flows through the underground including under a desert.
IMPORTANCE OF ARABIC
Allah stated His holy book must be written, memorised and taught in Arabic(conveniently Muhammad's language) to Prophet Muhammad even though there are thousands of other languages in the world. Vulgar Latin or Middle Chinese were the most spoken language in the world in the 7th century when the Quran was revealed,English and Mandarin are the most spoken languages in the 21st century. Only 5% of the world's population today speak Arabic (Arabic is the 5th most spoken language in the world) so it is illogical, confusing and absurd why God wanted "the most important words for mankind" to be specifically delivered in Arabic. If Allah had revealed his doctrine to all cultures and corners of the world, there would be an independently verifiable method to confirm that every language in the world received the same message from the same God. This would be very powerful evidence in favour of Islam. It is a shame he decided against this:
Quranic Verses on Importance of Arabic:
41:3- "A Scripture whereof the verses are in detail, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge"
7:1: "Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad (These are the names of letters of the Arabic alphabet and in this sequence only Allah knows their meaning here;this is one of Allah's many miracles)."
12:2: "We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so you people may understand/use reason"
14:44: "We have not sent any Messenger except with the language of his people (Arabic) so he can make things clear to them. Allah misguides anyone He wills and guides anyone He wills. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise."
42:7: "So We have revealed an Arabic Quran to you, in order that you may warn the mother of cities(Mecca) and all who live nearby..."
44:58: "We have made the Quran easy in your language (Arabic) so that they might be reminded."
26:198 - "And if We had revealed it (this Qur'an) unto any of the non-Arabs" - 26:199. "And had Muhammad recited the Quran unto them, they would not have believed in it "
41:44: "If We had made it a foreign Quran, they would have said, ‘If only its verses were clear! What? Foreign speech to an Arab?’ Say, ‘It is guidance and healing for those who have faith, but the ears of the disbelievers are heavy, they are blind to it, it is as if they are being called from a distant place." - Could Allah's book not also be unclear to Non-Arabic speakers which was the vast majority of the world in the 7th century and the 21st century?
Why the Almighty God would have a preference for one language over the thousands of others is unclear. Muslims believe Arabic has a special status in Islam. It is compulsory to learn Arabic to be a Muslim and perform activities like the 5 daily prayers, recite the Shahadah and read the Quran. Millions of Muslims around the world memorise the Quran and verses for prayer which are entirely in Arabic whilst not knowing the meaning of what they are saying when they pray everyday and read the Quran. It is estimated up to 10 million Muslims around the world (the majority not Arabic speaking in countries like Nigeria, Indonesia and Pakistan) have memorised the whole Quran. Most of them barely understand a word of what they have memorised It seems likely an All-Wise, All-Powerful God would be able to come up with a better way for people to show devotion to Him than reciting words in a foreign language they don’t know. God’s chosen messenger was an Arabic Person. Islam is filled with Key Arabic terms like Hajj, Shahadah, Taqwa, Taraweeh, Ramadan, Zakat and encourages Arabic customs like keeping a beard, eating dates and women covering their hair.
SPLITTING OF THE MOON
54:1 The Quran states: "The Hour draws near; the moon is split in two". And if they see a miracle they turn away and say 54:2 "Passing Magic," Sahih Bukhari 4:56:81 Narrated Anas states : \"*That the Meccan people requested Allah's Apostle to show them a miracle, and so he showed them the splitting of the moon."*The Quran and Hadith claim that the people of Mecca,Saudi Arabia asked Muhammad to prove that he had divine powers so he miraculously split the moon into two pieces and then, presumably, put it back together again. There is absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever that the moon has ever been split into two. Since the moon is visible to half the planet at any given time, we should expect to see numerous accounts from different parts of the world attesting to this event if it actually happened. The Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Persians, Chinese and Indians had avid astronomers who should have seen this event and recorded it in their histories. The absence of historical record from other civilisations, contemporary to Muhammad, is a strong indication that this event never happened. Yet again another Islamic lie. The Quran states in 4:82 "Do they not then consider the Qur'an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found some contradictions." The Quran appears to tell us it certainly didn't come from God as we have clearly found a contradiction in the book between what it says and what actually happens/happened in reality as the moon never split. The Quran also says in 2:256 "Whoever believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold(The Quran) that will never break. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower." Clearly the Quran is broken and is not trustworthy as it has lied to us and tried to deceive us about Science. The lie of the splitting of the moon disproves many of Allah's 99 names such as AL-HAQQ(The Absolute-Truth,) AR-RASHEED(The Infallible Teacher,) AL-ALEEM (The All-Knowing,) AR-RAQEEB(The Watchful One,) AL-HAKEEM(The All-Wise,) ASH-SHAHEED(The All Observing Witnessing, AL-MAJEED(The Glorious-Most Honourable,) AL-HAMEED(The Praiseworthy,)DHUL-JALAALI WAL-IKRAAM(Possessor of Glory and Honour, Lord of Majesty and Generosity.)

DESCRIPTIONS OF HEAVEN/PARADISE
The invention of an afterlife by religions such as Islam is to serve our primitive desires to stay alive and is a result of the fear of One's mortality. The invention of an afterlife is also means to satisfy our primal desires to feel pleasure and Islam provides this as it sates in 41:31- "You will have therein(Paradise) whatever yourselves desire, whatever you want." The sole purpose of a Muslim's life is to enter Paradise and according to 29:64- " This life is nothing but diversion and play (to distract you from the ultimate goal of paradise)" The way heaven is described in a religion is usually reflective of the culture the religion originated from; this is expected as religions are fabricated by humans not sourced from divine beings.
The Islamic Paradise (Jannah) is described in the Quran and in Hadith as a place with lots of magnificent gardens, nice greenery and weirdly obsesses on how there are many rivers and sources of water in Paradise. Here are some verses on the Islamic Paradise:
36:34 - “And We have made (In Paradise) therein gardens of date-palms and grapes and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.3:193 - “But as to those who are careful of (their duty to) their Lord, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow....”16:31 - “The gardens of perpetuity, they shall enter them, rivers flowing beneath them; they shall have in them what they please...”47:15 - "The description of Paradise which the righteous have been promised is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed..."5:119- "...There are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath – their eternal Home. Allah is well-pleased with them, and they with Allah. That is the great salvation."9:72- "Allah hath promised to Believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein, and beautiful mansions in gardens of everlasting bliss."61:12 - “These it is (Paradise) for whom are gardens of perpetuity beneath which rivers flow,”54:54 - "Verily, The Righteous, will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers in Paradise."18: 33. "Each of those two gardens brought forth its produce, and failed not in the least therein, and We caused a river to gush forth in the midst of them."
The fascination with gardens and water appears to be a reasonable depiction of heaven coming from primitive desert dwellers who didn’t have much access to greenery and vast areas of water. Most people don't think of water when they think of a heaven except of course primitive Arabs who lived in the sweltering heat of the desert.
Islam is famous for having an extensive list of things which are forbidden under the religion (Haram) . There are customs like drinking alcohol, gambling, wearing gold and women being able to dress freely, and beautifying one's appearance which was and is part of most cultures including Pre-Islamic Arabia that were subsequently banned under Islam. I believe the reason religions like Islam ban trivial, inconsequential thing like beautifying one’s appearance is because if you can force people to give up something so intrinsic to their society and to being human, it is much easier exercise control. Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The world is a prison-house for a believer and Paradise for a non-believer. Sahih Muslim 2956. The purpose of tedious rules is to make its adherents cement themselves more concretely to the religion. Muslims are being controlled massively by the the commands of a fictional being(Allah) and unfortunately do not seem to understand that. There is no other reason. The rules do not benefit you but the business. Every time you follow these rules with no evidence they came from a divine being, you are paying another subscription fee until you decide you are being used and drained to the religions benefit, not yours. Muslims are obligated to follow the Quran and it's rules as it is supposedly the word of God- 4:59- "O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad ), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority and if there is deviation amongst yourselves, refer back to Allah, His Messenger (and Quran ), if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination."
FASCINATION WITH WINE IN PARADISE
The fascination with wine in the Islamic heaven indicates that the Arabic authoauthors were into alcohol all along. Allah is clearly a confused man who doesn't even understand and abide by his own words as he says in 5:90 that alcohol consumption is the work of Satan but then promises alcohol in heaven for righteous Muslims. 5:90- "O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al-Ansab, and Al-Azlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitan's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful." It seems weird to condone something in Heaven that you said is bad to do on Earth. Here are Quranic verses on Alcohol in Paradise:76:5 - "Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur."76:17 - “And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger. “47:15 - “The description of Paradise is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine delicious to those who drink; and rivers of clarified honey (clear and pure)....”
FASCINATION WITH WOMEN AND SEX IN PARADISE
The Quran forbids men and women especially women from beautifying themselves, tells men to lower their gaze, tells men and women to be modest in dress and behaviour, and discourages the provocative sexual display of their bodies and and discourages hyper-sexuality however extensively discusses sex and the beauty of the women in heaven. Yet again, it seems weird to condone something in Heaven that you said is bad to do on Earth.
24:31 - “And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like palms of hands or one eye or both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husband's sons, their brothers or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.”
Here are Quranic Verses regarding the beauty of the women in Paradise:
2:25- “...they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives), (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.) and they will abide therein forever.” This means God will provide pure women for men to have sex with in Paradise.55: 70-“Therein (In Paradise) will be fair (wives) good and beautiful.”37:48- -“And with them (believing men) will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes.” 37:49. “(Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved.”2:25- "Virgins await those who enter paradise."
78:31-34 - “Verily for the Righteous(men) there will be the fulfilment of (the heart´s) desires; Gardens and vineyards, And a cup(of wine) overflowing; And women of equal age with big and firm breasts”
Quran 55:54-56 - “They(righteous men) will recline on Carpets...In them will be houris(virgins) restraining their glances, and no man or Jinn has ever opened their hymen with sexual intercourse, which of your Lord’s blessings would you deny?
The obsession and fascination with women's beauty and sex in the Islamic Paradise and lack of regard for female sexuality with no Quranic verses appealing to a Woman’s desire for sexual gratification clearly illustrates this was made up by sexually aroused Arabian Men who were implementing their sexual fantasies into their ideal paradise. It is oddly suspicious that there are no Islamic verses describing the handsome men in Paradise for women. The misogynistic objectification of women by portraying them as commodities and treating them like prizes to be won if One is faithful to Allah is typical of the ideals of the time, where women in most civilisations were treated as second class class citizens and had limited rights compared to men.
Bonus Quranic verses on women in Islam:
4:34- "Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom you fear rebellion from, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and beat them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great." This verse means men are in charge of women, because Allah made men to be better than women. Women must obey men, and if they refuse they must be punished. Refuse to have sex with them and beat them into submission.
2:223- "Men,your women are soil for you (to cultivate/farm) so go to your soil as you please, and send (good deeds) before you for your souls, and fear Allah, and know that ye will (one day) meet Him. Give glad tidings to believers, (O Muhammad)." In the mind of Allah, women are like a dirty field for men to put their penises through. Plough them whenever you like (as long as they're not menstruating, of course.)
4:24- "Also forbidden for men to marry are women already married, except those whom your right hands possess(captive women aka sex slaves)." This verse means Allah permits men having sex slaves.
OBSESSION WITH DATES
Islam has stressed the holiness of the date and the date palm more than any other religion. In fact, the Prophet Muhammad said that Ajwah dates—grown in the Madinah region of Saudi Arabia—are from paradise. The date palm, mentioned more than any other fruit-bearing plant in the Quran 22 times is a symbol often associated with Muslims. Muhammad argued that seven dates in the morning protected one from poison and witchcraft. The Quran states that Mary was advised to eat dates while in labour with Jesus, to ease childbirth and strengthen the body. The Prophet was once reported to have said, “People in a house without dates are in a state of hunger.”
Some of the many Islamic verses on date-palms:The Hadith - Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 3464 states: “ The prophet says: whoever says: Glory is to Allah the Magnificent, and with His Praise, a date-palm tree is planted for him in Paradise.”36:34 - “And We have made (In Paradise) therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.”55:11 - ”Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates)."(This verse means thankfully Allah has provided humans with date-palms on Earth)17:91- "Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst abundantly."55:68- "In them (both) will be fruits, and date-palms and pomegranates."80:29- "And olives and date palms"54:20- "Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms."(Allah bragging about the punishment and torment he inflicted on innocent disbelievers using a strong wind)
It seems very convenient and oddly suspicious that God has created a special status for date-palms in his religion and talks about dates an awful lot, given the fact dates are a staple food in Saudi Arabia (It’s eaten regularly and mass produced in the Arabic World). It is very easy for a culture that loves and places great value on dates to then say that God also gives dates a special status. Why the creator of the universe would have a liking to the common fruit in the Middle East over all the thousands of fruits that exist is unclear. It would be suspicious if the God of a religion of Japanese origin claimed Sushi is a holy, special food and described how much sushi there would be in heaven e.g "For those that believe, there will be plates of sushi for them in Paradise."
PORK
The Quran offers no explanation as to why pork is impure is it states in 6:145 when God says, in reference to the flesh of swine (pig), “for that surely it is impure.” Arabs generally didn’t eat pork and thought it was an unclean animal before Islam came so it was very convenient that Allah said Muslims shouldn’t eat pork as it was unclean and impure. This highlights how the Arabs were scientifically illiterate and didn't know proper cooking kills pathogens. Why would the creator of the universe view some foods the mere humans he created eat as disgusting but others perfectly fine for them to eat. This seems like a human trait that is usually dependent on One's culture. For example, a person from the USA may view eating snails and horse meat as disgusting whilst a person from France may view this as perfectly normal.

SPREAD OF ISLAMIslam was spread by Arab Conquest & War and Arab traders. The most Islamic regions of the world are in the Middle East/Arabic countries. Doesn't Allah know his "beautiful words of wisdom" for mankind would be spread through violent ways and evil dictators who forced it upon lands they conquered. Allah is All-Knowing, Benevolent and All-Powerful therefore he could have stopped these from happening or created a better way for his doctrine to spread through Mankind. Quran 2:256 states: "There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path." and 15:9 states: "Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Qur'an) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption.)" This verse clearly means the All-Powerful Allah and his Angels dramatically failed on their promise to protect the Quran from corruption and misuse as we know how much evil that has been committed in the name of the Quran throughout history especially given the infamous rise of Radical Islamic Terrorism over the last few decades. 99% of all terrorist attacks that occurred throughout the world from 2010-2020 were Islam related. This disproves many of Allah's 99 names such as AL-MUHAYMIN(The Preserver of Safety,) AR-RASHEED(The Guide, Infallible Teacher,) AL-HAQQ(The Absolute Truth,) AL-AZIZ(All Powerful,) AL-MUHAYMIN AL-‘ALEEM(The All-Knowing.) Doesn't Allah realise that by revealing his doctrine exclusively to Arabs, he engineered the cultural isolation of the rest of the world from his doctrine, he engineered the circumstances of Unbelievers' disbelief that live in the far corners of the world like South America,New Zealand and the Pacific/Remote Islands of the world therefore he created a punishment (Hell) for a situation he knowingly created. It is very suspicious that Allah is Arabic-speaking, Arab-centric, yet will punish non Arabs millenniums later for not believing the message they received through a game of telephone.

RENAMING OF JEWISH AND CHRISTIAN FIGURES
The Quran also arrogantly claims that key figures: Jesus(Isa), Abraham(Ibrahim), Noah(Nuh), David(Dawud), Ishmael(Ismail), Isaac(Ishaq), Joseph(Yusuf), Ezekiel(Dhulkifl), Moses(Musa), Solomon(Sulayman) ,Jacob(Yaqub) in the centuries old religions of Judaism and Christianity were actually Muslim and Islamic Prophets and gave them Arabic names instead of their Aramaic and Hebrew names. ARABIC NAMES ARE BRACKETED.

FASTING“The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you, and perhaps you will be grateful.” (Quran: 21:85)Fasting in Ramadan is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and must be performed if One is fit, healthy, not pregnant, not ill and not menstruating. Islam requires fasting from dawn till dusk in the holy month of Ramadan which is approximately 12 hours in Saudi Arabia. If the authoauthors were in Northern Europe where dawn till dusk can last up to 22-23 hours in the summer months, leaving a 1-2 hour window to eat a day for a whole month, they probably wouldn’t have made this difficult, extremely unhealthy and dangerous task a requirement. The author is also clearly unaware that there are parts of Northern Europe near the North Pole where the sun never sets in the summer months. This phenomenon is colloquially known as the Midnight Sun. For example Svalbard, Norway is known for having a Midnight Sun. In Svalbard, Norway there is no sunset from April to August and no sunlight from November to January. Islam was born 1400 years ago so how would people living in these parts of the world be able before the invention of mechanical clocks 600 years ago is unclear. The Quran makes no provisions for Muslims living in these areas, the Quran states in 6:38- " We did not leave ANYTHING out of this book," this is weird given the fact the Quran is meant to be the perfect, final word from the All-Knowing All-Powerful God who knows about the existence of the midnight sun.

THE ONLY ANIMALS,PLANTS, CITIES AND PEOPLE MENTIONED IN THE QURAN ARE THE ONES FOUND IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
The only animals and plants mentioned in the Quran are the ones found in the Middle East. Never ones specifically in Australia, Europe, Antarctica North America or South America.
The only cities, nations and continents mentioned in the Quran are the ones found in the Middle East area. Never ones specifically in Australia, Europe, Antarctica North America or South America.
The people mentioned in the Quran all lived in the Middle East area. The Quran doesn’t mention people living in Australia, Europe, Antarctica, North America or South America.
The Quran never mentions smoking even though it was popular and existed in the Americas long before the 7th century when the Quran was written.
All the miracles in the Quran occurred in Saudi Arabia and nowhere else in the world. No miracles from Allah. No miracles in the Quran in Australia, Europe, Antarctica, North America or South America.
ISLAM'S OBSESSION WITH ARABIC AND ARABIAN CULTUREReligions are fabricated by humans, consequently, they are tied and intrinsic to the particular culture it originated from and Islam is no exception. Religious and Non-Religious people agree that 99.99%+ of religions are fabricated by humans as there are thousands of religions that make incompatible claims, each claiming to be sourced from a divine being. Islam is obsessed with Arabic and Arabic culture, every page you turn to you see a reference to Arabic culture, this isn't the case for Christianity. The Majority of people don't think of Israel, Hebrew and Israeli culture when they think of Christianity. Like I said, the more a religion is tied to the culture of whatever society created it, the less likely it is to be legitimate. An omnipresent All-Knowing God wouldn’t care where on earth the primates he gave sentience to come from. A religion that professes its universality and its suitability for all mankind, 81:27 "Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns)," seems rather centred around a specific group of people (Arabs).
All evidence points to the fact Islam and the Quran was a completely made up by Arabic People and/or Muhammad who had no contact with a Deity and other cultures beside Arabic culture adding to the fact it is filled with hundred of contradictions, inconsistencies and scientific inaccuracies. The fictional character ,Allah, was clearly obsessed with Arabs and Arabic culture and couldn't go a few pages without a reference to Arabic culture; this guy is meant to be the creator of the universe. Islam appears to be a local Arab folklore to unite nomads under the banner of one God through the violent political campaign of Muhammad. Islam claims to be global but all knowing Allah forget to send prophets outside of Arab world. The evidence of contradictions, both big and small serves as clear evidence of human tampering. If the Quran came from Muhammad it was nothing more than fabrication from a power hungry megalomaniac, with his claims of divine inspiration being nothing more than an attempt to conquer Arabia and Islam being nothing more than just another false desert cult to emerge from a sea of desert cults.

THE KAABA
The holy site for pilgrimage is very conveniently located in their backyard (Saudi Arabia.) This would be like a religion of Japanese origin claiming the holy site for pilgrimage is in Tokyo.

The Islamic Paradise (Jannah) is described in the Quran and in Hadiths as a place with lots of magnificent gardens, nice greenery and weirdly obsesses on how there are many rivers and sources of water in Paradise. Here are some verses on the Islamic Paradise:
36:34 - “And We have made (In Paradise) therein gardens of date-palms and grapes and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.
3:193 - “But as to those who are careful of (their duty to) their Lord, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow....”
16:31 - “The gardens of perpetuity, they shall enter them, rivers flowing beneath them; they shall have in them what they please...”
47:15 - "The description of Paradise which the righteous have been promised is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed..."
5:119- "...There are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath – their eternal Home. Allah is well-pleased with them, and they with Allah. That is the great salvation."
9:72- "Allah hath promised to Believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein, and beautiful mansions in gardens of everlasting bliss."
61:12 - “These it is (Paradise) for whom are gardens of perpetuity beneath which rivers flow,”
54:54 - "Verily, The Righteous, will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers in Paradise."
Here are Quranic verses on Alcohol in Paradise:
76:5 - "Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur."
76:17 - “And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger. “
47:15 - “The description of Paradise is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine delicious to those who drink; and rivers of clarified honey (clear and pure)....”
2:25- “...they shall have therein Azwajun Mutahharatun (purified mates or wives), (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.) and they will abide therein forever.” This means God will provide pure women for men to have sex with in Paradise.
55: 70-“Therein (In Paradise) will be fair (wives) good and beautiful.”
37:48- -“And with them (believing men) will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes.” 37:49. “(Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved.”
2:25- "Virgins await those who enter paradise."
Some of the many Islamic verses on date-palms:
The Hadith - Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 3464 states: “ The prophet says: whoever says: Glory is to Allah the Magnificent, and with His Praise, a date-palm tree is planted for him in Paradise.”
36:34 - “And We have made (In Paradise) therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.”
55:11 - ”Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates)."(This verse means thankfully Allah has provided humans with date-palms on Earth)
17:91- "Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst abundantly."
55:68- "In them (both) will be fruits, and date-palms and pomegranates."
80:29- "And olives and date palms"
54:20- "Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms."(Allah bragging about the punishment and torment he inflicted on innocent disbelievers using a strong wind)

SPREAD OF ISLAM
Islam was spread by Arab Conquest & War and Arab traders.
The Quran also arrogantly claims that key figures: Jesus(Isa), Abraham(Ibrahim), Noah(Nuh), David(Dawud), Ishmael(Ismail), Isaac(Ishaq), Joseph(Yusuf), Ezekiel(Dhulkifl), Moses(Musa), Solomon(Sulayman) ,Jacob(Yaqub) in the centuries old religions of Judaism and Christianity were actually Muslim and Islamic Prophets and gave them Arabic names. ARABIC NAMES ARE BRACKETED.

FASTING
“The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you, and perhaps you will be grateful.” (Quran: 21:85)
Fasting in Ramadan is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and must be performed if One is fit, healthy, not pregnant, not ill and not menstruating.

ISLAM'S OBSESSION WITH ARABIC AND ARABIAN CULTURE
Religions are fabricated by humans, consequently, they are tied and intrinsic to the particular culture it originated from and Islam is no exception.

You pay for therapy and counseling, I pay tithing to my church. Leave me alone.

Look I’m tired of being attacked because I pay tithing. Every time faith is mentioned online people are quick to say “did you know you money is going to x?” Or “you pay for that garbage?” Or “you are just paying the clergy $x, it’s not Gods” or “ did you know the bishop did x with your tithing”
Well do you know where your therapy money is going? Maybe the therapist is using that money for something nefarious? Maybe they are secretly funding a private gambling ring idk?
Does that change the fact that they rendered a service to you that you enjoyed and benefited from?
If you are paying for a service you like and enjoy, does it matter what happens to it once it leaves your wallet?
I go to church and pay tithing because it bring me joy, peace, and blessings. The messages I receive at church and the joy I get from reading the scriptures is fulfilling in my life and I wake up happy everyday because of it. When I have problems I talk to my bishop or text a leader and we get through it. If I’m having relationship issues there’s tons of people in the church for me to lean on and ask advice about. Once that money leaves my possession, it’s not my concern because the above joys are coming.
I’ve often found that people who would mock me for paying for tithing also pay similar amounts to therapy, counseling, specialists, family counseling and more. They spend hours a week talking about their problems To someone, paying by the hour usually. Usually the results of therapy are similar to what I experience in my church. They come out happier, they have more joy and begin to live their lives in a fulfilled way. They figure out how to overcome their problems and rise to be better. Once that money leaves you wallet it’s not their concern because the above joys start coming.
Don’t be a hypocrite and mock me for paying tithing while you do your weekly therapy visit. Church is therapy for me.
Couple of disclaimers: (I’m not including diagnosed disorders and issues, y’all got different reasons why you go to therapy and I hope you are doing well)
(People often site that churches steal tithing money, ya they do and it needs to be called out when it happens. The same way a therapist would need to be called out if they were paying for illegal things with their wages.
It’s my belief that God knows when you pay Tithing, your act of paying is all that matters between you and Him. If the bishop doesn’t something bad with it, that’s on the bishop.)

Pawn

So, as usual it's been a while but I emerge from my nest yet again! Here is another contender for a possible story I could follow up with next. I know people were interested in Apotheosis Siezed but I wanted to give options before settling on anything.
Without further ado here is Pawn! I hope you enjoy!
Neu Vieumau Joint Occupation Zone
Arana carefully held her pack close to her body as she peered out across the street, looking either way for activity. There was a squad of human soldiers in their dull blue armor just up the street inspecting a box hauler for some reason. But they soon moved on. The human soldiers always made her nervous. While the humans hadn’t stolen anything from her personally she’d had a lot of trouble with the various occupation forces since the end of the war. Everyone had. They kept promising that the new round of reforms would fix things. Yet, here they were.
Once the soldiers had moved on she carefully picked her way across the street. The various vehicles spread across the street were all in poor state. Some missing their wheels and stacked up on blocks. A few looked like they might be functional, even if the paint was mostly stripped or they had mismatched doors. Just about all the buildings around here had some form of damage done to them leftover from the war. Though this neighborhood was mostly intact. Not like her home in Shadowbrook. Half the buildings there were just rubble. It was low on the priority list for the Urban Reconstruction Corps.
As she walked she noticed a few others on the street as well. Just like her they were moving with purpose, heads down typically. If one didn’t look around too much they wouldn’t be able to see what was wrong in New Vieumau. To think it was once so well known for artists, academics, and as much free thinking as free parties. It might not be the home she once knew, but she still hoped she might one day see it restored to its former glory. Even if she didn’t intend to stick around through this current phase of… redevelopment.
Which is why she was here. She paused as she looked up at the shop before her. Unlike the other buildings this one had been patched up. Bullet holes plastered over, and new masonry patching up damage from the war. The owner must have done the work personally. While she knew the human letters she still wasn’t sure what it meant exactly. “Pawn Shop.” She knew that it really meant barterstore, but wondered what the human term meant. Feeling a little nervous she took out her small compact mirror to look at her face. Her horns were polished and sharpened. Her hair was clean. She gave a big smile to make sure her teeth were free of bits of food. Finally she gave her tail a quick wiggle as if to encourage herself.
Then she opened the heavy door and stepped inside. It wasn’t like the stores she was used to. There was a big main room with what looked to be heavy stronglass separating the customers from the goods beyond. None of the aisles or shelves she would normally browse. Just floor to ceiling panels of stronglass isolating the owner and goods behind it from the outside world. She could even see what looked like a few scorch marks, scratches, and divots where people had obviously tried to break it.
In front of each panel was a sturdy looking console bolted to the floor with a swipe screen on it. It took her a moment to realize that besides the various items and goods she could see each console could be checked for more goods not on display. But she was mostly focused on a large vidscreen set behind the stronglass.
“Offworld tickets.” That was what she came here for. But she sighed when she saw that instead of prices it displayed: “Updating.” Looking around she didn’t see the owner, or any clerk so she carefully stepped closer in to start looking at the goods on the shelves. She wasn’t surprised to see a section dedicated to rations and medical supplies. While the worst of the long starve was over food security was still important. Not to mention getting meds from the occupation authority was like pulling scales off a razormink.
However beyond that she noticed a much larger variety of more… seemingly random offerings. Old fashioned physical books, art supplies, musical instruments, knives, jewelry of every shape and size, boots, hauler parts, computer parts, bot parts, so many parts! Then she neared the edge of the store and paused as she looked over a section that actually interested her. Old fashioned physical games!
She saw an incredibly detailed Devious Confessions board. She hadn’t played that game in ages... Then there were a few sets of Dashings, plus some of those Krenka games she recognized even if she never played. Every species seemed to have a few games on display. Though her eyes then settled on an incredible black and white board she’d never seen before with little detailed pieces arrayed across from one another. One side was dazzlingly white, as if just the smallest bit of light would be reflected and make each piece glow, while the other side looked to be so dark and shadowy she had trouble focusing on each piece even just before her face.
“Interested in chess?” The sudden human voice made Arana gasp and jump back, dropping her pack as she raised her fists to ward off a surprise attack. She even tilted her head to bring her horns to bear if need be. But instead of some hidden ambusher she just saw a human behind the stronglass, hands raised. “Whoa! Sorry! I didn’t mean to startle you.”
“Oh.” Arana straightened up then and dropped her hands, somewhat sheepishly tugging the strap of her pack to pick it back up and hug it. “Apologies. I didn’t expect a human.” She studied his face for a moment. Tan flesh, simple yet practical merchant’s attire, brown hair with speckles of white around his temples. She noticed a bit of grease and oil along his hands and forearms, plus a number of tools tucked into the pockets of his apron. Tiyava hadn’t mentioned this merchant would be human…
To her great surprise however he then spoke up in Divine. “[Wouldst thou prefere instead to converse in the tongue of the Divine? Many shadows across the moon have passed since this humble proprietor has had chance to partake of the great barter under the eyes of one of Swagin’s faithful.]” Arana shuddered a little. He sounded just like a shadow bishop.
“That’s okay.” She replied back in human. “My human is pretty good. If you don’t mind?”
“It’s called English, but yes you do speak it well. I only meant to try and set you at ease.” The human explained, obviously having no idea he had done just the opposite. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d had someone speak to her in Divine and not had it be part of a lecture during the Great Feast, or Suffering Moon.
“This is your store?” She asked, trying to set her mind a bit more at ease.
“It is.” The human nodded. “My name is Gustavo Clay. Though most just call me Clay. You’re free to do so as well if you like.”
“Clay…” She spoke the word carefully for a moment and nodded. “I am Kwansularanadivo. You may call me Arana.”
“It is nice to meet you Arana.” The human nodded and then walked along the backside of the stronglass and shelves to point at the board she had been looking at before. “I saw you admiring the chess board. Are you interested?”
“It’s beautiful.” She nodded a moment. “It is a human game?”
“It is.” He confirmed. “Very old. Lot of history. Though… I’ll admit I don’t care for it myself.”
“Oh?” She stepped back up to the window as he lifted a piece off the board and slowly turned it over, letting her see the detailed work. She had no idea what the piece was meant to represent but it looked well made even so. “What is the goal?”
“To take the opponent's king.” He held out the piece he had picked up. The king apparently. “Each piece has a set of movements it can make across the board. You take turns and try to capture pieces and win the game.”
“You don’t care for it?” She asked and the man shrugged.
“Just because it’s got history doesn’t mean it’s a great game. Only two players, and kinda stuffy for my taste. But you’re welcome to it obviously.” He tapped on a button in the back and she saw the screen of the console switch to various views of the chess game he had.
“I am looking for a good game to play on a ship. I like to find a game when I travel and teach it to other passengers. It’s… rewarding.” She nodded a little as she felt that human word worked.
“Ah, a travel game? Might I recommend…” He moved over and instead picked up a small bit of carved wood that had a little compartment in the bottom and a set of tiny holes on top. “A cribbage board, and a deck of cards.” He opened the compartment to reveal small pegs, and then grabbed a deck of cards from somewhere behind the shelf.
“It looks… simple.” She frowned a little at the board.
“This is really just to track points. The main game is in the cards. You deal, then play numbered values to add up to certain numbers. Fifteen and thirty one mostly. But there’s various stages in the play which keep it interesting. Plus you can play with two, three, or four players. Here, you can download the rules free.” He motioned her to the console once more and she saw a burst code show up.
Tugging her phone free of a pocket she waved it across the console, confirmed the download, and then saw a new icon appear. Tapping on it she found a list that made her blink. “How many variations of this game are there?”
“Oh, that’s just for all card games. I highly recommend traveling with cards. The amount of games is… there’s a lot. And it’s cheap. Just one credit for the deck.” He held up the cards behind the stronglass.
“And the board?” She nodded at the carved wood.
“Six credits.” Seven credits for a simple, yet nice wooden board, those pegs, and a deck of cards that could be played… She glanced at the app for a moment and marveled at the sheer scale of options. Yet, that chess board was so gorgeous… and the pieces as well… It would give her an air of sophistication. That might be important for her new life. She needed to reinvent herself after all.
“How much is the chess board?” Maybe she could get both? Seven credits after all was a very nice meal. Two lesser ones maybe. She could skip a bit of eating.
“Four hundred credits.” The human announced.
“Four hundred credits?!” Arana gasped. “Loopacooni! Even for an opening bid that’s outrageous!”
“It’s not an opening bid. That’s the price. It’s a collector’s item of… some variant. I forget but I’ve done the research.” He insisted.
“What sort of bartershop doesn’t come down off an offer like that for a boardgame?” Arana countered.
“Who said this is a bartershop?” The human asked with a frown. “It’s a pawn shop. Not the same.”
“My friend Tiyava said you were.” Arana was beginning to wonder if this was the wrong place.
“Oh Tiyava? I know her. Wonderful lady. She has many trinkets to sell. I think this is… a minor translation issue. I will buy things from you, and also sell them. But I don’t engage in [haggletongue.]” He shrugged. “Did you have things you needed to sell?”
“Yes…” Arana nodded slowly. This had to be the place then. Tiyava only mentioned one fence for her hauls. “I want to get off world.” She nodded at the vid screen up above.
“Ah. Then maybe you do have the credits. Hold on.” She watched the human step back and reach up to tap a button on the screen before it flicked over and she saw a list update. There were only a handful of places that they could still reach these days with most of the gates ruined in the war. But she knew where she wanted to go.
Partizania Rai. The archipelago planet had once been a retreat for artists wanting to escape the city life of Neu Vieumau. Now it was trapped in limbo as tourism was no longer viable, yet they didn’t have much infrastructure for a fishing industry or… really any industry. Still. She knew her future was on that planet. Away from this mess. Find herself an island somewhere and just… subsist.
That is until she saw the prices as they began to display. “Loopacooni safisco kawksuhkwa jinero!”
“I can assure you I, nor my mother are all that bad.” The human replied even as Arana glared at him.
“This is mistake! Or lies! How can a ticket be sixtreen hundids! Chepist! Other only moah!” Her human was degrading in her anger but she couldn’t help herself as her tail quivered.
“This is the price. That sixteen hundred one is if you already have a travel permit. I should also note I only deal with a private ship. Guaranteed to get you there. You’d be the only passenger. No questions asked. Discreet. If you have a travel permit and don’t mind flying a public transport then by all means go to the spaceport.” Arana continued to glare at the human, unsure if he was purposefully saying that because he knew she wouldn’t have a permit or if he was genuinely trying to be helpful. “Do you have any skills that can be used on a ship? It’s not a service I typically advertise but I can arrange for a work passage system. Work on a ship for a few months to pay for your voyage.”
“What skills are useful on a ship?” She was sure she already knew the answer but... “Art?” The human just looked at her for a moment and very slowly shook his head. “Loopacooni…” She couldn’t let this stop her. She wouldn’t have much left over to start her new life… but she could still do this. She couldn’t let him know how badly she needed this. He said it wasn’t that kind of bartershop… but she still suspected it was. At least a little. It was 2300 for the next ticket… That actually seemed right to her. Travel permits were about a thousand to grease the right palms… He was providing a discount. Likely since he knew better palms to grease.
“Did you have something to trade?” The human asked next and she nodded, opening her pack as she very carefully pulled out a temperseal case holding her Aunt’s prized possession. Which she left for Arana in the Grand Farewell. “Something delicate then. Please.” The human motioned for her to place it in an object scanner set in the middle of the store. Setting the case in place she watched and waited as the scanner got to work.
She was rewarded with seeing his surprise as the image came up on the screen. “A Wonderland Rose?” It was nice to see the human hadn’t expected it.
“My aunt, taken into the great party of Swagin’s palace, left it to me.” She mentioned.
“Oh, [May she forever grace your memories with pleasure as jubilant as the party she celebrates in her death.]” Arana was still a bit unsure how a human knew so much Divine. Yet, she nodded.
“[Her celebrations in death shall echo pleasure across time and memory.]” She completed the polite return. But she felt a bit self conscious about her own pronunciation. His Divine was better than hers. She was much more used to decktongue with other Davari.
“I know you Davari grieve differently but I’d also say I’m sorry for your loss. If your aunt left this to you she clearly cared for you deeply. She might be enjoying Swagin’s party but I’m sure you’ll miss her as well.” Arana was further offset by the human’s words. It was something she had been thinking about lately, but the scriptures frowned on such sentiment… Still…
“Thank you… but do not think I will let up on price.” She countered, fearing this was a barter tactic.
“Hah… no I’m sure you won’t.” On the otherside of the stronglass the human tapped on a console to carefully rotate the image of the rose. “Mmhhh… it’s a secondary production.”
“What?!” Arana nearly yanked the temperseal case out of the scanner, fearing a trick. But when he zoomed in the image she could see in much smaller print on the bottom of the rose stem the production date. He was right… She had always assumed it was a first run! The value… Her heart began to sink in her chest…
“It’s still in immaculate shape and the second production had some benefits over the originals. Even if it's less rare…” The human muttered and then looked down as he typed into a dataslate he was holding. “I can offer you eighteen hundred.”
Arana was once more surprised, the offer seemed… good. Yet it didn’t matter… It wasn’t enough. She looked up at the board as her dream began to slip through her fingers… Where could she go? Huzata? Yes, because she wanted to live on a rock of dust and debris. Plus she’d still be broke once she got there. Janlim? Oh by Swagin’s knife all those polens… She nearly sneezed just thinking about it. The Traitor’s moon? No. Not even an option. Krassian’s moon? Maybe life in low atmosphere wouldn’t be so bad… She could still find a way to subsist in the oxy-fens…
“If you don’t mind me asking… I’m assuming you want to go to Partizania Rai?” Arana returned her focus to the human.
“I am.” She nodded.
“There’s a way… we could help each other.” Arana looked at the human and watched him carefully. Tiyava had never mentioned him being… overtly shady so she hoped that he wasn’t about to suggest what she feared. “I have something here you might be interested in.” She watched him move along the wall of stronglass to a display case that seemed to hold various trinkets and toys she hadn’t paid much attention to. “This is Jiji Numaske.” He pointed to what seemed to be nothing more than a toy robot of some kind. It was a little on the large side. Perhaps as long as her forearm. But… looked like plastic and nowhere near the fine material craftsmanship of the chess board she had admired earlier.
“What of him?” She asked and looked from the robot up at the human.
“He’s worth thirty six hundred credits to the right buyer.” Even as he said that she couldn’t help but laugh.
“You are telling me! This children’s play thing! Is worth more than a ticket to another world! With a travel permit!” She gasped out.
“I am.” He nodded slowly and her laughing trailed off. Now more curious about what he was getting at.
“How does this help me? I cannot afford it.” She reminded him.
“I said it’s worth thirty six hundred credits to the right buyer. I am not the right buyer. Unfortunately the right buyer hates me because he thinks I stole this from him. Which, before you ask, I didn’t. I knew how much it was worth and bought it up from a repo auction before he could. Now he refuses to buy it from me. So I have a very expensive piece of junk that no one wants to buy. Because no one other than a collector cares about it.” Arana looked from the human to the robot toy and back, waiting to hear where she came into this. “Do you know that tower two blocks over?”
“Past the Cathedral? The ugly teal one? Teal… is the color yes? Not green, not blue, trapped between in defiance of both?” She had trouble remembering human color names sometimes. Or really… most color names. When every language had its own names for colors and not all species saw colors the same… it could get confusing.
“Uh yes. Teal.” He confirmed. “Well, the collector lives there in the penthouse. So. You sell me the rose, and I give you Jiji here for what I paid for him. Sixteen hundred credits. And… two hundred more credits because the rose is worth eighteen hundred. You, then take this to the collector and you get the full value. Come back here and you get your ticket offworld today. The ship is actually in the starport right now.” He checked his watch and she tensed up a little.
Was this a trick? A ploy? Or was he being serious? The notion of limited time made her nervous… She could leave the moment she had her ticket. What was in her pack was all she wanted with her for her new life… It had to be a trick. Why trust him? It didn’t fit. “I don’t know you. Why do this? Why not have Tiyava do it?”
“Ah… your friend is nice but… She never has sixteen hundred credits to pay my cost for the toy.” The human shrugged.
“I’m not trusting…” Arana held her pack close to her chest as she thought it over. “What if toy is worthless and you just… swindle grift me?” The human eyed her carefully then just as she eyed him in return. He took a moment and brushed at the greying edge of his hair while he seemed to think.
“That’s… fair… Okay… How about this. I give you Jiji here. You go get the credits. Come back. And either buy the tickets and sell me the rose then, or just buy the ticket and get less credits for your trip.” This also made Arana frown… this now seemed… too lenient? Why would he trust her if they had just met? Surely this human was as wary of her as she of him?
“Why would you trust me with this then? I might run off with your precious toy.” Arana did her best to study the human now. Trying to remember all she could about their body language.
“I know that sometimes we must trust one another. That to benefit us both I have to have some faith in your intent. If this toy sits here for years it’s worthless to me anyway so I might gamble a chance at a return of money for once… I can survive the loss. Plus… I saw it in your eyes earlier when you looked at the board. You really want this trip. I don’t think you’re pretending. Is it a chance to start a new life?” He asked and she nodded slowly. “Then I especially wish to help you. I had my own chance at starting a new life. I’d like you to have that same opportunity.”
Arana considered this… It certainly sounded good… What did she have to lose? But… that somehow made her more nervous. Swagin said to be wary of a deal made to look too good… Yet Swagin also said to take advantage of kindness from those who don’t know better… Did this store owner know better? Then he spoke up again. “Plus, I’ll be honest. If I really wanted to I could track you down and get my value out of you. Tiyava doesn’t try to steal from me because she is afraid of me.”
That sounded right to her. It all fit in. He would profit more from trusting her than not. Plus, he could strike revenge should she betray him. All was within the teachings of Swagin. What had the human called himself? Clay. “Very well Clay. There is just one issue. I don’t have a pass to enter the Ravex zone of occupation. Which that tower is within. Is it not?”
“But you are Davari. You’re allowed to go through the cathedral.” He pointed out as he carefully took out the toy to seal it in a steadybox for her to take. “There is a single Jipasi guard who checks worshipers in to the cathedral. No matter what it looks like he’s doing, give him fifty credits… Do you have fifty credits?” Arana shook her head and he sighed before pulling out a few bills. “Give him these and move on. Take the elevator to the penthouse. Ask for Huurg. No matter what, don’t tell that Kra’Kto’Sui idiot you got this from me. Say… whatever. Just don’t tell him it was from me.” With that he pressed the box and the bills into a rotating stronglass container, spinning it around to her side so she could grab it.
“I will return soon.” She tucked the box into her pack, zipping it up and slinging it over a shoulder while she kept the bills tucked into her hand. Eying the rose in its temperseal on the counter she hesitated a moment and pointed at him. “If this is still a trick I can get revenge too.”
“Hah… I don’t doubt it.” Clay smiled at her and shrugged. “I’ll make sure to tell the ship to wait. Just in case.”
That reminded her… if she did this quickly she could be off. No more old life. No more history. A totally new experience awaited her… She focused on her task then and stepped out of the door before checking up and down the street much like earlier. No occupation forces in sight. If she ran she’d make good time. But that would draw a lot of attention…
So she settled instead for a light jog. The strap of her pack held tight as she moved. A person late for a meeting. Or work. Nothing too strenuous. Just a light jog… pay no attention… As much as she could she tried to will this thought at those also on the street. But much like earlier they kept their heads down and also moved with purpose. It wasn’t a good time for a mugging anyway.
As she rounded the corner she saw the cathedral up ahead. There was a group of Ravex soldiers on the street past it, guarding a checkpoint. Arana was always nervous around the giant scaled, clawed, warriors. Who strapped blades to their tails? Then again she had ritual scars etched across her body that other species also found worrisome. Everyone had something to mistrust in others… Yet, her Aunt had spoken about them killing her servants in the war and casting her into near squalor within Shadowbrook so she had a very real reason to hate them as well.
But for now she ignored them, and instead turned to enter the cathedral. All around her the stone work had scaffolding up covering a great deal of it. The faces of Swagin, his icons of wrath, the halls of pleasure, the finality of death, all the great segments were being carefully restored. This is where the money went for the reconstruction fund… Thousands living in Shadowbrook? Eh. A bunch of stones in a cathedral that no one really needs? Better fix that immediately! She tried not to hate too hard… Lest Swagin take offence. Really she knew his works must always be maintained. But Swagin himself would likely rather see his faithful made safe so they may take pleasure in better housing!
There was a small security checkpoint just before the doors into the cathedral interior. A lone Jipasi was sitting on a chair next to the security scanner. While Arana wasn’t sure what to make of humans she always found Jipasi amusing. The furry bipeds seemed so much more lively and amusing than their human allies. Plus who didn’t like those glorious brightly colored tail feathers they had? This one though was stretched out, arms crossed over his chest, his helmet carefully tilted over his eyes as he seemed to be sleeping…
Arana squeezed the fifty credits in her hand… Should she save the money? She slowed down to a careful creep instead of her jog… The human had said to give him the credits no matter what. Even if he was sleeping? Maybe she’d check it out… Bypassing the security scanner she leaned down and reached out to carefully tug the Jipasi’s helmet up. Then she nearly yelped in surprise as pulling up his helmet revealed his eyes to be wide open looking at her.
Gulping she carefully lowered his helmet, then reached out to tuck the credits into a pocket on the chest of his armor. A moment later she lifted his helmet slowly once more and now his eyes were closed. Lowering the helmet a finale time she stepped past, thankful for the human’s warning to her earlier.
Stepping into the main cathedral now she was almost entirely plunged into darkness. Such was the realm of Swagin. But there were a few bits of light at least. Two were from the depictions of the Eternal Party taking up the main wall in the back. Another was from the Shadow Bishop’s pulpit of storms near the ceiling. These three points normally cast the pews and pillars into dark shadows for the faithful to file into every Hoorsinda.
But the Cathedral had another light source these days. A giant hole in the ceiling casting a ray of sunshine down upon a Void Cruiser’s escape pod. It had lodged itself in the vista of virtuous sin and had actually crushed Shadow Cardinal Exckhartismal during the war. Many said it had been used by a vile Absolute Dynamics synth to escape capture. Many said he still roamed the streets at night slaughtering organics. Or some such nonsense. Arana didn’t really believe that. Even so, the Shadow Cardinal had actually been embezzling from the church, and he had been killed in such a spectacular fashion that it fit too well with Swagin’s code of vengeance. So the hole remained open, and the pod remained untouched. Guarded by the Ecclesiarchy even. Scripture made odd choices sometimes…
Ignoring that for now she scurried along the back wall, doing her best not to be noticed by any stray acolytes or priests who might think she was here to partake in holy whiskey or scar herself for the favor of Swagin. Today was not the day. Instead she moved to the side entrance to try and get out of the cathedral as swiftly as possible. While she still wasn’t sure that the toy she now had was actually worth what Clay had said… She hoped it was true.
Swagin of course would remind her that hope is a harlot. But still… Sometimes even the faithful must hope.
When she stepped out of the side door she saw the teal tower just a block away. One of the lower levels had several missing windows from some firefights but the rest of the tower looked intact. It was somewhat near the other side of the Ravex checkpoint however. Arana’s tail gave a quick twitch of anxiety but she pressed on. This time taking a more relaxed stride. She belonged here. Not a care in the world. Just heading home from church.
Near the entrance to the tower two older Davari were sitting on crates playing a game of Dashings. The smell of their cheap nicosticks filling the air as she approached, making her snort a little. Filthy human drugs… They glanced up for a moment but quickly returned to their game as she pointedly ignored them and walked past. The lobby had faded teal carpet with only a few stains here and there. None of them blood stains either. Upscale then.
When she hit the button to the lift she was a bit surprised that it quickly opened up. She wasn’t sure the last time she’d seen a working lift in such good condition. Before the war? Probably. Yet, just as she stepped inside she spotted another Davari step out of a door on the main floor and approach. She tucked her pack closer to her chest as he stepped on with her. He gave her a smile and nodded at the control. “[What floor sister?]” He asked in decktongue.
“[I’m not your sister. Penthouse.]” Her fingers crept into a side pocket in her pack, wrapping around the hilt of a knife.
“[Penthouse… Got some business worth my time?]” He asked then and opened his jacket a bit to reveal the grip of a pistol tucked into his pants. Did he want a fee?
“[I have something for the collector. But if you think you can tax me you best aim for my heart. I won’t bend.]” Even as she said that the other davari laughed and raised a hand.
“[Settle sister settle! No need to sprint to the great party. You sound serious though. Lets go see him.]” He hit a button for the top floor. Even as the doors closed and the lift began to rise up the building Arana kept her fingers clutched tight around her knife. Was he security? Clay hadn’t mentioned security. Then again, he was a barter store owner. Why would he? If this collector hated him he’d never have been here. “[Got something cute in the pack sister?]”
Arana just glared at the other Davari who smirked, seeming to be amused by her behavior. When the elevator stopped the door opened to reveal another door. This confused her a moment until it opened up as well to reveal some kind of… command center? There were desks and computers spread out around what was once a giant living room. A towering Kra’Kto’Sui began to lumber towards them even as the other Davari waved her out of the lift. He hadn’t pulled his gun yet… but she understood the idea.
For now her focus was on the big aquatic xeno lumbering towards her. The Kra’Kto’Sui were a species of aquatic multilimbed creatures that could live on dry ground in big suits kept constantly wet. She didn’t know much about their species except they typically were enemies of the Ecclesiarchy, so it was surprising to see one moving among so many Davari manning the computer desks. It used pairs of limbs to move along like a quadruped, since they needed the extra support to move around outside of water. Looking past the figure out the window she saw a big pool on the roof with furniture under the water. Perhaps he slept out there?
“[Bossman, found this one slipping up the lift. Not a resident. Says she has something for you.]” The other Davari from the lift announced as the Kra’Kto’Sui stopped just before her, head and shoulders bigger than her as it peered down with strangely shaped oblong eyes. His wet flesh slowly changing color while she watched.
“[I know. This one… came from the Cathedral… We did not see her enter… Curious.]” The xeno’s strange accent of decktongue was slow… pondering.
“[I have something to sell.]” She announced and let go of her knife to open her pack and pull out the toy in its case. She hadn’t fully pulled it free when the Kra’Kto’Sui raised a big tentacle to swipe it from her hands.
“Jiji!” It gasped out and stepped back.
“[Hey! That’s mine!]” She growled and reached out, but the guard besides her finally pulled his gun free of his pants making her stop in place. He hadn’t aimed it at her yet…
“Did you get this from him?” The big tentacle waved the toy in her face as she noticed he spoke in human. How did she play this?
“[My human isn’t good. What’s he asking?]” She looked at the guard.
“[Did you get this from the bartershop a few streets over?]” He gestured with his pistol out the window.
“[It was left to me in a final farewell gifting.]” If she considered it a trade for the rose that was true enough.
“[Hey hey, death ever profits doesn’t it?]” Even as the guard smirked she glared at his rude response.
“[Is she the trinket seller?]” Arana returned her focus to the collector as he addressed another female Davari at a desk.
“[No. I haven’t seen her before.]” Were they watching the bartershop? What was this? Did he really hate that guy this much? Well they must not be actively watching it since they had no idea she’d just come from there…
“[How much?]” The collector looked back at Arana as he held up the case with the toy robot inside.
“[I know what it’s worth.]” She announced and held her chin high. He’d have to make the first offer.
“[Get four thousand from the safe.]” The guard besides her was obviously surprised as he gasped.
“[What?! For a toy robot? C’mon bossman I’ll just shoot her and-]” The colector smacked the guard across his horns with another big tentacle. “[OW! Hey! What-]”
“[Do not be so rude to guests! Get it! Now!]” The last word was snapped out as the guard scurried away from the Kra’Kto’Sui. Arana just held her ground, one hand gripping her pack very tight. Four thousand? Clay had said thirty six hundred! Play it cool…
“[You should get better help.]” The Kra’Kto’Sui leaned forward, towering above her a moment. Maybe she had played it too cool…
“[They are zealous. But loyal.]” Out behind him Arana watched the guard open a safe that had to be filled with tens of thousands… hundreds of thousands of credits! The stacks of bills! What sort of place was this?! But he returned with an envelope and handed it to her. She snatched it from him and looked inside. She’d never held so many credits in her life… Sure she’d had more in her account at one point but to hold it like this? Her dream neared…
“[The transaction is complete. You leave now.]” Arana barely had time to understand what was being said as a tentacle pushed her back into the lift, pressed the button for the ground floor, and quickly whipped back out before the doors closed. She had four thousand credits… Four thousand! She couldn’t help herself as she jumped and raised a fist in the air, her tail whipping back and forth like mad. Her landing was a bit awkward as the lift kept descending but she managed it and then quickly fixed her clothing and pulled her pack back over a shoulder.
The moment the door opened she was moving. Focused. Head down. Out past the two old Dashings players, yet again ignoring the acrid smoke of their drugs. She paid no mind to the Ravex checkpoint. Right to the Cathedral. Praise by Swagin! She had triumphed over the harlot! Hope no more! She had cash! She couldn’t contain the continued wagging of her tail as she scurried along the back of the cathedral yet again. Just as she exited the main door she didn’t stop, she just reached out to drop a fifty on the still “sleeping” Jipasi soldier and kept moving.
Don’t run. Just… walk quick. Head down. Focused. She was barely containing her breathing now as she had her eyes set on the sign for the pawn shop. So close… just half a street away. “Hey!” Don’t stop. Don’t look. “Hey! You! Lady! With the bag!” She hesitated. No! Worse she looked and saw a group of human soldiers. They were by that box hauler they’d looked at earlier. She was stuck in place. Did they want her money? She was so close! Don’t let them take it! Run! But there had to be a dozen of them spread out around the street. They could gun her down in an instant…
“Yes?” She did her best to stay calm.
“Is this your van?” She frowned with confusion as he pointed at the boxhauler.
“No.” She shook her head.
“Do you know whose van it is?” The soldier asked next.
“No.” She shook her head again.
“Damn.” The soldier sighed and looked over at another nearby. “Sarge we don’t know who the van belongs to.”
“I can see that you idiot! Lady you’re free to go.” The moment the other soldier waved her on Arana scurried on into the store. Though she saw a Jipasi on a scooter driving up the street stop just before the door. Arana was surprised to see him drive right past the soldiers without a care in the world, but they didn’t seem to mind him either.
“Hey, are you the passenger for Partizania Rai?” The Jipasi asked just as she set her hand on the door to the pawnshop. What now?! She was so close!
“Yes.” She prepared to bolt inside should he try to grab her or… really appear to be any kind of threat. But the Jipasi was a bit smaller than her and she found it hard to imagine he was a mugger.
“I’m supposed to take you to the ship. You ready?” A scooter? For her? Had Clay called him?
“Ah… give me a moment.” She started to open the door.
“Oh wait!” Arana almost screamed in frustration. She was so close! “Pack of strawberry bubblegum.” She looked over in confusion as the Jipasi held out a credit, waving the bill at her. After a moment she snatched it from his fingers and finally went in.
The moment the door closed behind her she let out a heavy sigh of relief. She didn’t see Clay behind the stronglass yet… The temperseal case with the rose was still on the counter… She could snatch it and run… Instead she shook the thought from her head and walked up to tap on the stronglass. “Clay?”
“How’d it go?” She saw him step out from a door in the back just after she called out his name.
“Great! I got fort housand!” She held up the envelope of credits.
“Wow… I’m assuming you mean four thousand?” He asked and she nodded fervently. “He really wanted it bad… Lucky you… Maybe I should have gotten Tiyava to do it after all…” He rubbed his chin in thought.
“It’s too late! I already sold it! No takebacksies!” She insisted. “This is proper human term? No takebacksies yes?”
“Yes, that’s the proper human term.” Clay nodded and laughed. “I called my friends on the ship. They should send a scooter over to take you directly to their berth in the spaceport. They’re itching to keep a schedule.”
“They’re already here outside.” Arana set the Jipasis’ one credit in the little revolving stronglass container for Clay as well as the temperseal case with the rose. Then she peeled out the rest of the credits she needed to pay for the ticket and travel pass. “One pack of strawberry bubblegum. One ticket to Partizani Rai.”
“Oh they sent Nin? Well… you’ll get there fast. If you survive. Take my advice, don’t open your eyes.” This made Arana frown as she looked back at the door.
“Why? What’s wrong with him?” Now she was worried.

Godly Advice on a Christian Dealing with Gambling & Scripture

Hello everyone,
I have an odd or different question for everyone here.
I have an online friend that I believe is struggling with a gambling addiction, and I am at my wits end attempting to help him, because I don't feel there's much I can do for him other than pray fervently. He is a Christian - claims Jesus as savior, is kind to others, and in most ways that I am aware of, leads a Godly life.
Kind of.
He comes from a very wealthy family, and has seemingly squandered his inheritance, or a great sum of it on investments and now outright gambling. Recently, he has spent roughly between $20,000 and $40,000 USD (He's not American) on betting on the 2020 US Presidential Election. He believes that Donald Trump is God's Chosen Man, and that no matter what, its certain that he will win (he uses Christian "Prophets" such as Kat Kerr to justify his assurance he will win). He is now trying to make bets with anyone he knows on the election because of how certain he is.
In full disclosure, I used some of my own money/income to help him with the final wager, as I did take investment monies from him 4 years ago, paying him back piece by piece until he offered a final, one-time payment (to his gambling parlor of choice) to absolve my final debt payment to him.
He consistently uses scripture to justify gambling such as 1 Kings 18 (Elijah's wager with Ahab). He believes some gambling is justified and uses this scripture, but its also apparent he recognizes the level of gambling he does as sin, but then uses grace and freedom in God to justify it.
I have told him that he's committing willful sin and is legitimately not in repentance because the act of repentance requires turning away from the sin, fully, which he is avoiding wholesale. He believes he always listens to God through the Holy Spirit, and that since no conviction has really taken place, he's totally OK with what he's doing.
He also believes that since I entered into paying my debt off in the way I have, that I have no legitimate right to correct him, even though I've told him I felt horrible for paying him off in that way, and have repented of it, and shown contrition for it and plan to never attempt dealing in such a thing ever again (I truly hate gambling, and in my mind, felt it was entirely done to pay off a debt, not enter into any sort of gamble myself).
So I am coming to /Christianity for advice on this matter. I am very fearful for his spiritual and mental health. I live in another country than him. I feel like what he is doing is borderline blasphemy in the way he's using scripture (and does so very often, if he read this he will come up with 10 scriptures for justification for any action he's taken). He's going as far as to saying I am in error because I am "Touching the Lord's anointed" and even recently posted the scripture in Acts about Ananias and Sapphira being deceitful, causing them to die (as in, saying that since I am trying to debate him, I may die or have bad health).

So my questions are 2 fold:
Is his argument correct? He believes that the Christians here will say he's totally valid.
What in the world can I do, given the position I am in? All of these conversations are virtual. I've prayed for him, and all I can feel is grief in my spirit. Greif that he's beyond deceived by his actions. But could I be in the wrong? I am trying to post and explain this situation as best I can, and I am open to correction and discipline just as much as anyone.
Thank you guys so much.

The forsaken archaeological site

Ever heard of the forsaken archaeological site in Brazil? Probably not. The police, local government and everyone involved with this case have been silent ever since the survivors came back and told their part of the story. Apparently, the people who survived have been declared crazy, but still the government does not allow anyone to go near the place. Large groups of soldiers and army vehicles stop you if you go in the direction of the forsaken archaeologist site. The site should have been the greatest find of the century, but for some reason it became a huge disaster.
It all started when Bradford, a veteran amateur archaeologist, made his own discovery somewhere in South-Mexico. Deep in a Maya temple, somewhere no man should have ever been, he found a very old scripture describing a civilised nation somewhere in the heart of South America. The civilised nation was far more advanced than any other nation. All the other nations looked up at them, but there was a deep fear hidden among its people. They did not worship their gods like any other religion, they feared them. Their gods were described as pure evil. Shadows that hide in the dark, watching you, waiting for you. Those people were so afraid of these “gods”, that they used human sacrifices to please them. But apparently it did not work all too well. A great disaster happened, and the nation collapsed. There where drawings of dark figures in the Mayan scripture showing what caused the disaster. It was very clear the Mayan’s feared these figures as well. They refused all refugees who were asking them for help, they did not want to take any risk bringing those gods to their lands.
After the disaster, the Mayan’s had erased everything about this nation. Most of the scripture, describing the history and the people were destroyed. All the names of great kings, the location and the culture where gone. It was destroyed from history, forgotten, never to be found. Until Bradford made his discovery in the deepest rooms of the Maya temple, far away from any comforting light. After analysing and reading all the scriptures about this unknown nation, Bradford wanted desperately to find it. It was his key towards riches and fame, and he would do anything to get it. He immediately took the first flight to Brazil, trying to uncover where this lost nation was located.
It took Bradford years of researching to discover some sign of an ancient civilisation. It would be a big gamble going there. Bradford, determent as he was, still waisted all his money on a crew and a few henchmen who did all Bradford’s bidding. He took the gamble, hoping it would bring him fame and riches he desired so much. Somewhere, in the thick rainforest in Brazil, there was a big, lonely hill. That was the place they would venture too. It would take a month walking in the rainforest before they would arrive at the location. Though all the 15 men in his crew had doubts about finding the lost civilisation, they still went forth towards the lonely hill.
As Bradford and his team took there first step towards the location, a strange feeling went to all the people. It was clearly visible that all the crewmembers did not look happy, but rather scared. No one said anything, they just walked in the dark forest, not saying anything. The rainforest was filled with large leaves, big plants, and an endless army of trees. Day and night, they were confronted by the immense noises coming from the animals in the rainforest. Only the persistence of Bradford would be the motivation of getting through the Amazon.
The closer they got to the location, the stranger the forest became. The leaves on the trees became larger and thicker, making it each day darker than the last. The noises the animals made became less the deeper they were in the jungle, just like the men walking the long route towards the location. One man, an archaeologist, got bit by an unknown animal in his leg. His skin became blue, and he coughed blood mere minutes after the bite. Some of the other men pleaded to go back, hoping to save the man’s life. Bradford asked if the guides knew what happened to the man, but they all shook their heads for they had no idea. It was clear Bradford did not want to end his venture because of this. He looked at the sick man, and saw the blood coming out of his eyes. The sick man started cry for his mother, as he was gasping for air. He died a half hour later. This was not any reason for Bradford to stop the expedition. He just went on without giving a eulogy. He was almost at the place, and nothing could stop him.
It was only a two day walk before they would arrive at the site. The forest was now almost silent. The air was thick, and the trees were hiding all the daylight. The crewmembers were still devastated about the dead of there fellow man, but Bradford ruled his group with an iron fist. Nobody could contradict him. Bradford told them they could leave any time they want, but first had to discuss it with one of his henchmen and then they could go alone without a guide or supplies. The moral of the crew changed once they came across a few stones placed on top of each other. It was the first sign of civilisation. Everyone broke out in joy, except for the guides who looked very intrigued at one of the stones. They started a big discussion with each other in Portuguese, talking fast and frantically. They kept pointing at one sign, a half-shaped moon with three crosses in it. When Bradford asked what was going on, they all stopped talking, and one of them started signing a song very silent. It sounded like it was a children’s song for when they go to bed. At that moment, the rainforest was silent. The sky became darker and shadows crept through the leaves and trees towards the group. A chilling feeling was felt with all the people, as the guide still sang the song. The other guides were getting nervous and eventually stopped the guide. Bradford became mad at them and told them to stop being so dramatic. The guides did not listen to Bradford and started pointing at the strange sign, telling everyone it was bad. Bradford immediately ordered everyone to move and not pay attention to the guides. Everybody followed Bradford, except for the guides who refused to go with them. They got on their knees and started praying, praying for the souls going to the location.
Moral was now at an all-time low, especially now the guides left the group. Bradford told them that they did not need the guides, that they were just two days away from the place and when they reached it, they would all become famous. It gave a little bit of hope among the men, but back in their minds they knew something was wrong.
The closer they got, the more of these half-shaped moons appeared, almost like a warning sign to those who come near. Some of the members tried to examine the signs to learn what they meant, but Bradford did not want anything to do with those signs and forbid the men to do research on it. In the evening they reached the foot of a big hill. That would be their final camp. From there they would excavate the place, looking for evidence of a civilisation. When the tents were placed, and the meal was cooking they all enjoyed a few moments of peace. Finally, the long walk in the unknown jungle was over, now they really could begin with the discovery of a lifetime. As they were all discussing where to start with their research in the morning, the night replaced the sun, and the forest became dark. A small light appeared on top of the hill. One of the people in the camp saw the light and warned the others. It looked very strange, as if the light were watching them. For a second it looked like it was moving. It frightened everyone. Some thought an ancient tribe was still living here, but the map did not show any signs of human life, tribal or non-tribal. Bradford stated that is was probably a star who reflected on some strange rock or something. Still that night, nobody had a good night rest, except for Bradford who dreamed of all the riches and fame he would get.
The next morning all the people in camp started excavating the place. It did not take long before they found what they were looking for. The place was rich with all kinds of signs of civilisation. It caused for a big celebration. Ruins and very old stuff were found just a few feet beneath the earth. Though the place was rich with all different kinds of ancient artefacts and ruins, it was also a dangerous place. One man tripped and almost fell in a very big hole. It would certainly have killed him if he fell in. They discovered that the dark hole let towards a tomb, filled with graves and other stuff. Bradford was so excited about it that he wanted people to go in the hole and discover all the treasures that laid in them. The only problem was that it became dark, and it would be hard seeing anything, so he had to wait for the next morning. That night, the light on top of the hill looked like it was closer to the camp. Nobody knew what it was doing, and nobody wanted to find out.
The next morning the youngest, and also the lightest of the men, would go down the dark hole. He would become one of the greatest explorers, according to Bradford. His name would be written in all the papers. It gave him a little bit of comfort. He was clearly scared of going down that hole. Still he went through with it and was lifted down with a rope by the other men. The comforting light of day was being replaced with the scary unknown darkness of the hole. Each feet going down the hole felt like he was closer to terror. The young man only had a flashlight with him, giving him just a small light source. The air in the tomb was foul and old.
The moment he touched the ground he could see the strange graves laying on the cold floor. He looked around, hoping to find something valuable. With the little light coming from the flashlight, he could not see the room he was in. It should have been a massive tomb, housing many dead people. At one point he pointed his light at a broken grave, seeing the deteriorated person inside. He almost screamed in fear. From outside the hole he heard Bradford yelling that if he did not find anything, he had to stay in the hole until he did find something. As he looked, he felt something breathing on his neck. He turned around to see nothing but pitch darkness. Then he suddenly heard footsteps coming closer to him. He pointed the flashlight towards the sound, but still nothing. Feeling very frightened and scared, he quickly looked around hoping to find a valuable artefact. Finally, in the corner he found something shiny. It was a moment of pure happiness, he almost forgot that he was in a very scary hole with a lot of dead people.
The young man quickly went towards the item trying to grab it. He almost grabbed the artefact until he saw an entrance to another room. The room was dark, and he got an even worse feeling then he already had about the hole. He shined his light to see where the room was going. He walked a bit closer, for he thought something was moving in the room. Out of nowhere a dark figure appeared in the other room. The young man could not believe what he was seeing. The dark figure raised both his arms as if he wanted to hug the young man and came slowly towards him. The young man screamed to be lifted, but Bradford did not allow it. The young man looked around him, searching for the closest thing to grab and leave. The figure came slowly closer and closer towards him, each step sounded louder than the last one. The young man ran towards the shiny item in the corner and grabbed it. At that moment, the figure stopped walking slowly and started to run at him. The young man screamed that he found something as tears came from his eyes. They started lifting him up, but at the end of the rope was nothing. There was no scream, no sound, just nothing.
The whole crew looked at Bradford, who just stared at the end of the rope. He then made it very clear that no one could leave, or otherwise they would be thrown in the whole by his henchmen. They had to continue there work just like normal, and that the young man eventually would be found. That night the small light on top of the hill was closer, right near their camp. One of the henchmen went toward the light, to see who was holding it. It did not take long before he came back crying and shaking his head. He walked past the camp into the forest, he never returned. Nobody could sleep that night, fearing the strange light that kept coming closer and closer.
The next days were hard for the men, in the darkness of the trees they had to work hard. They felt watched all the time. They heard strange noises, footsteps and unexplainable things happening right near them. One of the men claimed he heard the lost young man screaming for help from a different hole than he fell in. When the man looked in the hole, the scream sounded different and distorted. He thought he saw him, standing there watching him from a distance with a strange smile on his face. The man felt very uneased by the look of the young man’s face, he knew something was not right. The young man then came closer, and the man saw his red eyes filled with madness. The young man ran towards him, trying to drag him into the hole. The man made it just out, and the young man disappeared in the darkness. The man was one of the lucky ones, others started disappearing in similar ways. One second you saw them, the next you would hear a scream so horrible that all the hairs on your body would stand-up immediately. If you went looking for them, they would all be lost in the terrible darkness. That night they were only five men left. Even the henchmen wanted to go, but Bradford demanded to stay. Then the strange light went on again. This time is was so close near the camp, that you could almost see who was carrying it. Everybody backed away from the light, except Bradford. He went straight to it. When he reached the light, it turned off. A short scream was heard, followed by an agonizing call for help. Then it went silent, and the light turned on again. It was now in their camp, getting closer to the last four men. They all ran away into the forest.
After a month they returned to the civilised world, damaged and afraid. They did their report, saying they were followed by something in the rainforest. The Brazilian government had sent people towards the location, but everything about it is classified. Today only two survivors live, and they both have a clear message. If you hear a sound that you do not know, if you feel like you are not alone, if you think someone is watching you, run.
